ABOUT THIS WEB SITE This site is is my "soapbox." I love all aspects of aviation. It has been my passion since I was a small child. I am one of those very fortunate individuals who was blessed by being able to make a career out of my passion. Now that I am retired and only fly for personal travel and recreation, I enjoy talking about flying and trying to give something back to the individuals who make up this fantastic community of aviation enthusiasts. After being an active flight instructor for more than 30 years and having given more than 8,000 hours of dual instruction in general aviation airplanes, I recently decided to give up flight instructing. I didn't make the decision lightly. It was my decision, not one forced upon me by a medical problem or a tangle with the FAA. The reason is probably a rather selfish one, in a word, it is liability. I am no longer willing to risk being sued by a pilot, a pilot's estate, a pilot's survivor, or a pilot's HMO. I have never had any problems in this area, but I can read what is happening in our litigious society. I have made an attempt at having a balanced content. I have included some technical things, some interesting things, and some fun things. I welcome your comments on this site, both positive and negative. I am open to suggestions on how to make it better. By the way, if you're really bored and want to read about my background, click here. Please contact me via e-mail at gene@genebenson.com.
