SHORT COURSE: FUEL SYSTEMS

This short course explores the fuel systems commonly found in single-engine airplanes. Both carbureted and fuel injected systems are discussed. for carbureted systems, the theory and practice of dealing with carburetor ice is examined. For fuel injection systems, precautions to avoid vapor lock are presented. Proper leaning techniques are covered for both carburetor and fuel injection systems, including use of the Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) gage, tachometer, and fuel flow meter. The use of the proper octane fuel and fuel contamination cautions are also discussed.
