This short course presents a rather thorough discussion of weight and balance for the pilot flying a light, single or multiengine airplane. The theory behind proper airplane loading is discussed. Terms such as "maximum allowable gross weight", "maximum take-off weight", "maximum landing weight", "basic empty weight", "standard empty weight", and "useful load" are defined. A practical presentation of an actual loading problem is provided. A "weight shift" problem is also presented and solved.
